Bishop Geoffrey Halmatha Gibbs, I., B.Min. D.Div.
Bishop Geoffrey Halmatha Gibbs, I. is multi-talented, uniquely gifted and anointed. With over 30 years in ministry he is a dynamic preacher and bible teacher.
Bishop Gibbs began his early church life at the Holy Tabernacle Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Carrie B. Taylor. Bishop Gibbs began his pastorate at the Solomon Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia on February 17, 1985. He later founded the Bethel Temple Church of Philadelphia in March, 1986. He also founded Bethel Temple Church of Wilmington in August,1994 and Founded Greater Holy Tabernacle Pentecostal Assembly in August 2003.
Dr. Gibbs received his Bachelors of Ministry Degree from the Thomas Brown Bible College and Seminary, Jacksonville, Florida in November of 2002. He received his honorary Doctors of Divinity Degrees from the Philadelphia Evangelistic Bible College,
Philadelphia, PA in February 1985, and the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishop’s, Cleveland, Ohio in March 2006.
Dr. Gibbs is certified to teach the bible by the Evangelical Training Association. He is a former teacher of the Rehoboth Bible Institute where he taught the books of Romans and Hebrews, also Church History and Church Doctrine. He Founded the Bethel Temple School of Ministry in Philadelphia, PA.
Bishop Gibbs is a member of the Joint College of African-American Pentecostal Bishops, and a Member of the Adjutant’s Academy of the Joint College of African-American Pentecostal Bishops.
Bishop Gibbs organized the Delaware Diocese for the Church of Christ Written in Heaven in January 1998, and was appointed Bishop of the Diocese; he has served as the first Adjutant General of the National Church, also a Member of the Executive Board of Bishops, as the Executive Secretary, and Chairman of the Board of Bishops.
Bishop Gibbs presides over churches in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Wilmington Delaware and Charlotte North Carolina.
He is the father of Four (4) children, Geoffrey Jr., Gene A, Angela D, Courtney D, a daughter-in law, Jasmine, a son in-law, Joshua and Grandfather of (5) five grandchildren Brian C, Geoffrey III, Malik J.T, Jr. Bre’lyn A. and Justin J.
